The Taverna of San Giuseppe is an exclusive and authentic restaurant. The typically tuscan location dates back to 1100 - and is situated in the heart of the historic centre of Siena - 400 metres from the famous 'Piazza del Campo'.
Marco -the owner- of many years of professional restauranteur experience,has created an ambience offering courtesy and quality to his clients - who generally not only stop for a meal,but also to savour the genuine food and wine which Tuscany has to offer - with the splash of creativity and talent typical of his versatile character.
The wine cellar is situated in an inner 'suggestiva' Etruscan house, which after the Middle Ages, became a family church. It is sculpted and carved by hand, and offers an immense choice of local and national wines of more than 500 lables: from the Brunellos of Montalcino, to the reds of Montepulciano and the best vintages.
The cuisine is typically home-style cooking, with home-made pasta such as ravioli, pici and pappardelle. Ribollita can be enjoyed made according to an ancient recipe, and green gnocchi with fresh mint and tarragon are a few examples of what you will find on the menu for starters. The true 'bistecca Fiorentina' from the chianina breed, beef fillet in a dough crust with porcini mushrooms and seared, sliced sirloin drizzled with excellant olive oil are some of our main courses - although our menu is ever-changing to accomodate the wonderful, fresh and very seasonal products which the Tuscan soil has to offer.

Our dessert selection is a wonderful choice of home-made and genuine desserts, along with our choice of dessert wines(passiti, muffati and moscati).
